Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 1: Causing death by dangerous driving
A person who causes the death of another person by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence.
Death by Dangerous Driving is when a fatality occurs as a result of driving, which is of such poor quality that it is intrinsically dangerous. These matters are usually dealt with in the High Court and a conviction will normally result in a period of imprisonment.
Penalty: maximum prison sentence of 10 years and mandatory disqualification.
